a conversion kit, or "drop in" kit is a set of HID Ballasts, HID bulbs and a wiring harness, which will give you about 3x the amount of light output over a standard halogen bulb.
HID - High Intensity Discharge - are typically found in higher end cars, but mostly found in projectors (which help focus the light where it is needed on the road). Though projectors are the best way to do it, they can be pricey (as they will have to be retrofitted into a stock headlight), many people run HID kits in their lights.
