Ya im definitly on the 4th Gen bandwagon now, they look awesome. I like the 2nd gens, id like to have one for offroading specifically, i just think they are put together a little bit better for that than the 3rd gens

I had an 2nd gen (01), gave it up for a little mazda because of gas, and then missed my truck so much that i had to go back, I like the 3rd Gen (06) interior muuuch better than the 01, and the Hemi is a huge plus. That being said, I wanted a 4th gen, but all I could afford is the 3rd ;) . I do love the progress Dodge has made over the years though, it was refreshing when I went back to pick out the new truck to see that they had refined the interior a little more.

I'm not gonna lie, I got mine for looks only.

I'm not crazy about 2nd gen looks wise and I also am not crazy about the 4th gen 1500s. But I do love the new SRW HDs!

I like my 3rd gen for the ride comfort and the interior, but it wouldn't be able to follow my old 2nd gen anywhere off road. I don't have a favorite out of the two, but I know if this 3rd gen had a solid axle then I would definitely take that over the 2nd gen.

I love the 3rd gens. Specifically the 02-05 body style. When those came out I told myself that I would own one and at the end of 2004 I bought my brand new 2005 Ram. This was based strictly on looks. I still think they are the best looking, even tho I now have a 2008.

Been avoiding comment on this thread as we are all Dodge Ram Lovers each in our own unique way Gas Fed or Diesel. I can say proudly that My favorite Truck of all time is the Lil Red Express with the 360.

The only second gen I would even look at is one of those V10 jobbies and 4th Gen, I only like the 2500 look, however if i wanted a power wagon with Hemi it would be a 2005 so that said 3rd Gen in my books and the reason I started doing perf mods to my Truck was to rebel against the Black Smoke Movement and with my 0-40 time of 3.08 i can jump out with those fellows no probs.

If I ever buy a fifth wheel i will conform to the Diesel for that purpose but will refuse to modify it in any way as I am a true Gasser.

This truck here is why IMO the 3rd Gen is the winner if you ask me!

But I'll settle for this little one as well. Remember the pricing is real good for Canada and Lethbridge has some nice ones and is where i found my Magnum.

They had a black o6 model with 12 K miles and it sold in a week.

The 4th gen is to the interior of a truck what the 2nd gen was to the exterior... game changing. I have only owned the 4th gen but my dad has owned 2nd, 3rd and 4th. a '95, 2-'98's, '04, '07 and I have an '09 so I have experienced them all. My dad had a friend that had a '72 that we borrowed a few times so I have tried those a little too. There is no comparison as the 4th gen's (as they should be) are superior. I am talking in quality not just preference in the look. I love every single generation and all for different reasons. Dodge has done what we all wanted made an unstoppable engine and a strong durable drive train with awesome looks and quality inside and out.

Celebrate the generation you have but realize the next will likely be even better quality than the one before it and that is a win for Dodge and all Dodge fans!

So long story short I don't believe 3rd is best I believe 4th is but they are all special for different reasons. 5th gen will be better than 4th and so on and so forth. This is called progress.

I love the Ram line of trucks no matter what year, I work next to a ford and GM dealer and have to listen to people talk about F150's and Sierras all day and talk about how great they are. I think if your look through the generations with the progress the Dodge continues to make with these vehicles its impressive. The styling, the performance, the durability its all amazing. Ive had my 04 for about 3 years now and i have hammered that truck from california to pennsylvania, sub zero tempartures, record snowstorms, buried in mud, scorching desert heat and hitting the sand dunes and i have never had to replace anything major. One control arm, and swap some fluids. The only other vehicle ive owned that was this reliable was my 89 Toyota Sr5, that puppy had 380k on it when the motor finally went on it. Im a strong beliver in the RAM product line and back it 100%.

Mainly the body style. The main reason why I got a ram, and 3rd gen to be specific. To me the 2nd gen didnt look aggressive and big enough. Now the 4th gen is ok, but i still prefer 3rd. The 4th gen almost seems to boxy in some areas IMO.
