I came in on fumes after work, does any one know if the o6's have a low fuel light? Is empty at the red line or just below? I haven't a clue where mine is at. and I really don't wanna find out the hard way.:killer:

Mine comes on when I have less than 30 miles left on the overheads DTE screan, so roughly 2 gallons +/- would be my best guess and that just a hair into the red line, but there is a light that comes on.

To test the gauge lights hold down the trip meter reset and turn the key to on. All your gauges should cycle along w/ a full sweep test of all the gauges.

If you don't have your owners manual for a lay out of the gauges you can download one here:
My Dodge: Dodge Owners Service Manuals - Dodge Cars, Trucks, Minivans, SUVs, Wagons, Hatchbacks

You're low fuel light is #28 on the attached.

If any of the lights are failing it will not be a cheap fix. They are LED built into the gauge cluster. My "service four wheel drive" light went out and I had to have the entire cluster replaced ... yeah for warranty and a great service department :)

If your running low all the time the fual pump has to work harder there for shorting its life.

Fuel light comes on with about 2 gallons left. The dte hits 0 when you're out. I saw 1 mile to empty one time and filled it up 23.1 gallons which means the tank was empty and I was running on fuel in the lines

34 gal tank here..........last but I have NEVER gotten close to it. Even when it said 20 miles to empty........only took 28 gallons. I think the 4th gens have a super secret reserve. :D

ive noticed that when it starts getting down to the last few miles of DTE the miles last a lot longer... for instance, if the DTE is 3 miles, i can drive more than 1 mile before it drops to 2... maybe a scare feature so you get your ass to the gas station??
i think they underrate the tanks and gauges a little, just incase... i think...

Not only does it work harder, but when the fuel is low the pump runs hotter. The fuel helps cool the pump as it operates. Usually, it is said to try and not run your tank under 1/4 tank.

mine light comes on at 28-30 on the dte. thereis a 2 gallon buffer so when your dte reads zero and you needle is on red you still have around two gallons. i ran my 08 down all the time never got more than 24 in it. even if i let it hit 0 in my 04 i have never gotten over 24 in it. i have a 26 gallon tank.
