Damn that sucks!

Gonna be an expensive repair too, when my R/T got keyed from the headlight to the taillight it was over $1,500 to fix. Thankfully insurance covered it under vandalism and we have a $0 on every coverage on every vehicle

There is no reason to call the police. They won't help, they never do.

First let me say I think people that take out there grudge on a vehicle should be beat with a fan belt then punched in the face every day for a month. Now, as the police, if no one comes up and says soin-so did it and they witnessed the whole act or if the store video does not have a clear shot of the act being performed with the violators face visible, what exactly is it that you expect us to do? I actually had a girl call me back about an hour after I responded to her keyed vehicle because she had found a piece of fence wire about one hundred feet from her car and asked me if I could run a paint trace analysis on it. WTF?

Well, I found a mark like the OP's on my truck and the only difference is that whoever did it was either very weak or used a plastic key because I only saw some surface scuffs which did not penetrate into the paint or clear coat.

Turns out there are no cameras, and yes insurance will cover it. I'm getting a $100 break on the deductible for not replacing the headlight (I JUST put those on there, the scratch is so small on the headlight you have to look for it, I can live with it) and they're going to paint my Daytona lip for free.

Update

So I got the truck back today. Since they painted it for me I put the Daytona lip on, and since I got tow mirrors I decided to throw those on as well. I had actually put the running boards on couple of weeks ago, just forgot to post about it. Looking good now!

Glad to see a "happy ending" to this story. The only way it could be better would be to find the person responsible and give them an opportunity to explain their actions.

I would love to hear an explanation... although it would be very impressive for the person to be talking while I am pounding some common sense and courtesy into him with a 2x4.
