You might get more help posting your question in the 3rd Generation area. I'm new to the Ram scene, so I don't know what differences there are between the 4th generation and 3rd generation Rams.

3rd gens have leaf springs in the rear and 4th gens have upper and lower control arms plus coils in the rear.

I went with a Mc Gaughy's 4/6 with a c notch and I couldn't be happier. It rides way better and still hauls loads. Mine is a 04 but it should be the same. I would suggest buying the delux kit as it is all inclusive. I have different sized tires now, those were just to have room for the drop, but it should give you the idea.

I have the 2/4.5 McGaughy's with Belltech street performance shocks.

It's totally up to you though :)

Im on a 5/8 drop now with mine and i love it. Rides great and still works like a truck. Any drop over 4" in the rear youll want a frame notch.

How close is you gas tank to the ground? I was thinking about going lower than the 4/6 that I have now but I need to get my tank higher first.

At ride height its probably 6" off the ground. Ive never had it hit anything, only issue is the alignment lift at work. Itll drag the top of the ramp a little but thats it

Mine is only about 4" off the ground when my bed is empty. It makes me a careful driver when I am carrying a load.
