I'm interested in leveling my truck from the back only. What is the best way to do this? do they make a pair of Springs that would drop the rear level with the front or do I need to use drop shackles. I know absolutely nothing about lowering so I appologize if the question is silly. I'm hopiing to smooth out the ride since having 10.5 inches of travel between the fender and tire with an empty bed is just harsh, bouncing around. I'de like to bring it down some. Is this possible with out changing the front?

you can take out the overload spring on the rear leafs but i doubt that will get you low enough. i think the only way is drop shackels.

If I use drop shackles do I need to do anything to the front? I don't want the rear to be lower. How many inches of drop are standard to level a Ram?

no you shouldnt have to do anything to the front. as far as how much to level it each ram is a little differant. Best way to find out is get a tape measure and measure from the center of the wheel to the top of the fender then subtract the differance. make sure your on level ground. but it should be between 2-2.5''.

i had 2" drop shackles on my 05 and i don't think it got it completely level. Some trucks will have more or less rake than others.

I do plow. That's why I want the back to come down to the height of the front. I'm not touching the front of the truck. My light weight plow has no problem with the front height. I just want to level out the back to match. Here is a new picture of my truck from my new office building. You can see the rake I have is pretty high.
