Anyone have the Ground Force 9970 kit for 4x4 Rams? I'm looking into getting it since it seems to be the only lowering kit for 4x4s (Yea yea shoot me for wanting to lower a 4x4 lol) I'm just curious as to how the kit rides after the install if it makes the ride much worse. I don't want to slam my truck I just want to change the stance a little bit.

Had zero issues with the GF kit on my '07. Ride was comparable to stock for me, handling was much better through the corners. After the addition of a better set of shocks it was much better on the bumps as well, but my stock ones were shot.

Yea I had a buddy look at the kit who drives a Rubicon and he said if I upgraded the shocks it should ride pretty good and I shouldn't have a problem. Glad to hear someone else say that too.

Any shocks you would recommend to upgrade to?

The 9970 kit does come with 4 shocks, my 9980 only came with rear shocks. I went with a set of gas filled Monroe's, I can't remember the numbers, but they were just stock length.

So I was just looking around and it looks like the McGaughys 2/4.5 lowering kit works for 4x4 too? It just doesn't have shocks. Is this true?

Only their spindle kit works for the 4x4. If you call them they'll tell you that the spring kit works (at least they're saying that for the 4th gens) but they actually have no clue. I got both of the McG's kits and the GF kit because Summit screwed up and sent me the 2wd spring kit instead of the spindle kit, and they didn't want just the front springs back. I can confidently tell you that the 2wd springs won't fit the front coil overs.

The spindle kit is what I was looking at I believe. From what I can find out it seems that the McG's kit works as long as you notch the spindles in the front.

Their new version of the spindle should come with a window machined for the lower ball joint. I didn't notch or clearance anything, and I'll be under the truck next week for some rear suspension work, so I'll have a look if there are any rubbing issues.

Would this spindle work on the 3rd gens? If so I guess I could piece together the kit to make it work.

Yes, the spindle(#44001) fits '02-'14.
