Ok so Im super torn about wether to lower my truck or raise it. I have the funds to go either way but Im extremely torn on which way to go.

So here is what I have come up with Im going to post on this thread to ask the process the pros and the cons of lowing the truck.

so here is the set up i am on right now.
2008 quad cab st. 6.5 foot bed, running on 20" stock five spoke rims, brushed metal on a street tire.

I am looking to dropit 6 in the rear and 4 in the front.

am looking to go with a moto metal stull rim 20" and same tires.

what would i need to do to make that work and what would i lose going that low.

Youll need to notch the rear to get a 6" drop and not hit the frame. 4" drop in the front will need at least. 30" diameter tire or smaller. Im on a 305/50-20 (31.5 diamater) with a 3 inch drop and my tires hit the fender liners frequently. If youre mechanically inclined you can go either way with it. Most shops dont have a problem changing steering knuckles, springs and flipping an axle. Not too sure of a shop that would cut the frame for you. I did it all myself with a 3/6 drop and the worst part was the frame notch. I went with djm drop arms in the front a mcgaughys flip and notch in the back and i didnt lose any ride quality other than the fender liners eating themselves away. Its all in your taste

will the 2 4 give it enough to level out the look of the trucks stance and also allow for the lowered look to leave it that sleek look?

The 2/4 will give you a nice sporty look without affecting the actual usability of the truck.
It all depends on what your goals with the truck are. Are you going to use it as a truck? Then go 2/4
Did you buy a truck for looks and will use it like a car? Then go 4/6

i have a 4/6 drop and i still use it as a truck. Its all in your personally like. I like the low and go look plus my two little boys can get in with no problem. With the 2/4 Hemibabe has the perfect example.

^^Thanks :)

I have the McGaughy's 2/4.5 (spindles & flip kit) with the new ram 20s.
I want to go lower, but just don't have the money to notch the frame and buy smaller tires. It's all up to how you want it

I have decided to go with the 2/4.5 i found a kit that works and since i am not to excited about the potential of screwing up my truck i found a shop thats willing to do it.

so now the wait begins on it coming in and then getting it to the shop to have the work done, while i wait patiently on getting it back.....

This is something that might help those who are rubbing inner fender liners and suffering bump steer. I foumd limiting the suspension travel to be the cure. If you look at a stock hieght truck you might be surprised to see only about 1/2" gap between the bump and LC arm. When we drop the front we knock the bump cup off, which really opens up the suspension travel inducing bump steer and allowing the tire to travel high into the lnner liner. I limited the front travel so the tire would not rub. In addition I tweaked the camber just a touch to clear the fender lip. I know I keep talking about Tembren rubber springs but they are the real deal as they have a load rating that prevents frame slap.

I think the fronts are rated at 730# each. The rears are 680# each.
