i never thought i would be starting a thread in the lowered section but...

ive been mulling the idea around in my head , thinking of ditching the mud tires and light bar for 20's and lowering my truck. maybe ive lost my mind .. but im pretty sure if i could get someone to trade me their 20's and tires for my 17's and my tires i would probably do this..

i figure i could just lower the torsion bars down to their original position. how do you drop the rear end to eliminate the rake? can you just replace the shackles or do they even make lowering shackels?

or maybe this is a terrible idea cause i have a 4x4?

They make drop shackles. I had McGaughys 2" Drop Shackles. They actually only drop about 1 3/4", but they will get you close to level. Here is a pic of how mine was (05 4x4 stock torsion bar front and drop shackles in the rear)

You in md? Might be interested in your tires if they are still decent. If you do decide to lower.

Those are MB Wheels "Gunner 5" from discount tire direct. They are 20"x8.5" with 285/50R20 Hankook tires (31.25x11.25)

thanks for the info.. that tire size looks perfect for what i want.

was thinking about just getting some newer style stock 20's and painting them black.

I have 20" stockersand might consider 17's...what wheels?

=TAPAtalkAHOLIC=

my wheels are stock, painted flat black using spray on bedliner.
i would be interested in any stock 20's except the flower pedals. i hate the flower pedal wheels!

Well I do like the wheels...What kind of tread they have on em? I wouldn't mind seeing what they look like on mine...Maybe we could meet up and see what they look like sometime

Street tires, lower stance if nothing else would certainly improve performance and MPG.
