Default 07 front end raise
I recently bought a 2007 Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab Hemi. By the way, I have always owned small Jap trucks, but, we had a baby, and I wanted something big. I am a good mechanic. Did a lot of work on this truck for 2 months to get it in shape. Lightning fast compared to my Rice Burners. Sure sucks on gas though. Ha! My struts in the front are not great. Also, I think my front end sits too low compared to the rear. I would like to replace the whole front assemblies. I read all the nightmare scenarios... If I were to install Ranchos that level it or raise it 1.5 inches, do I have to do anything else? Will this raise of 1.5 inches ruin my new tires? Will that throw the rest of the suspension off? The back shocks have been replaced and are ok. Would I need an alignment when done? Any suggestions?

If you lift the front, you will need an alignment. 1.5" shouldn't affect your shocks. I did 2" and am still running factory shocks for now with no issues.

Put a set of bilstein 5100s on it and call it done. They're adjustable up to about 2 inches of lift which will level a 4wd truck. And they ride really good.

And no it won't affect anything else. Just get an alignment after.

Second that. I have those on my truck and it rides nice, sits level and the truck is more stable than it was with the factory suspension.

Have the bilsteins on mine also and they ride better than the factory struts that were on mine.

Default Can I use Bilsteins with old springs?
Ok I like the bilsteins but they don't have the springs around them. Can I take the old ones apart and then reuse the old springs with the Bilsteins?

Concentrate A LOT on the lower shock mount bolt. That thing is usually an absolute bitch to get out. The nut will come off, but the bolt is usually seized in there and you have to beat the piss out of it to get it out.

When you bolt the new bilsteins in, coat the whole bottom shock bolt in anti seize.

My advice is stay away from the rancho quick lift struts, had them and they are garbage. The 9000 shocks are awesome though.
