Hey guys, newbie here :naughty:. Well I have a 2wd 04 ram 1500. It has had 20 inch wheels since the factory. I want to level the front and then add a 3 inch rough country lift and maybe add some 35's. I really don't care for the bigger rims that are on it now, so I was thinking about adding some 17 inch or 18 inch rims. Will the smaller rims mess the truck up at all? I know 2 guys whose trucks were set up with 17 inch rims, one guy put 22's and the other put 20's. Long story short both trucks rode really rough and one of them had to do some front end work...so will smaller rims mess up a truck that has factory bigger rim?

Rim diameter to a degree will not affect your truck at all. 17's 18's 20's it doesn't matter. The lower profile tire as you go up in rim diameter will though. A lower profile tire will not absorb the bumps of the road as much as a larger profile tire, so you will feel more of the road.

You have pretty much the same starting point that I had. I went with a maxtrac 7" lift with bilstein shocks all the way around. I currently have 17" wheels with 35 x 12.0 x r17 general grabber tires. No issues at all.

A lil opinion cause I have the rough country 3in coil in mine it cause a positive camber so the outside of your tire will wear more and the ride isn't to terrible not the smoothest but it could be worse

You won't fit 35s under with just a rough country 3in lift on the 2wd.

That's not true. I'm stock ride height with only a level and I have 35 s no spacers no rub. Didn't have to chomp anything.
