I ran bilstein 5100s on my Cherokee and my dad's F250, his 2001 F250 is lifted 6.5 inches the ride is still like a stage coach. They seem like decent enough shocks and have been good to me so far but I have heard good things about the Fox 2.0s which are only about 30-40 dollars more. Is it worth the upgrade or just stick with the widely popular Bilsteins?

I have heard it's not a huge upgrade just for the shocks. If we're talking fox 2.0 coilovers then yes they are better than 5100s. In your dad's case I would say no it's not worth it, just my opinion

Coilovers, shocks , just like anything else the more you spend the more you get. Surprisingly my inexpensive rear rancho 9000's are awesome. I also have heard positive feedback about all the fox products. There are slot of good companies out there though. I'm not a fan of any strut that utilizes the stock spring though, it's all about an aftermarket company changing that spring rate and damping in my opinion for a better ride.

I just installed a 6-inch BDS Lift on my truck. I had the Bilstein 5100's previously I kept the 5100's in the front but I opted for the fox 2.0 upgrade in the rear. They are beautiful shocks just like people say and the quality is awesome. In my particular case the shocks were valved completely incorrect for the application. I contacted BDS and sent them a video of the truck bouncing up and down. The shocks had little-to-no dampening especially on the rebound side. They had me return the shocks. I called my vendor and he said that they had a couple other people that had the same problem when installing the shocks on the ram. Mind you these are the shocks that come with a 6 inch BDS Lift. I am not sure if the standard Fox 2.0 shocks for trucks that are not lifted as much have the same valving. After I had already returned the shocks BDS contacted me and said I could send them to Fox to have them revalved but it was to late. I ended up putting the Bilsteins back on even though they are technically too short until I can find a long enough replacement. The truck rides much better with the Bilsteins. Before anybody starts bashing me because they think I'm knocking Fox shocks don't bother. I am not knocking them at all. I have used them for other applications for years racing dirt bikes and off-road vehicles. In this particular case though they were not valved well at all for my truck. The 4 Wheel Parts store I bought them from said they will no longer recommend running the fox shock upgrade on the Rams with the BDS 6" lift until Fox revalves the shocks.

I agree with rick above, my buddy has a bds lift on his '12 ram with the fox 2.0 on the rear and him and I aren't impressed with them. He plans on switching them out with the bilsteins. I'm not knocking fox completely either but definitely not impressed with their shocks.
