I got a Rough Country leveling kit it's just some round metal spacers. Someone told me that it's not a good idea to install them for the fact that they've already fell off of someone's truck they know. Anyone ever have any trouble with a leveling kit like this?

Unless if your truck is a road princess of course. :naughty:
LOL , I guess if your truck is a Blacktop road queen spacers are fine

Not the case with me and my truck though. ...I went with the bilsteins 5100 @ + 2.8"

Spacers bind your suspension up, bils do not. I actually took my spacers off and went to bils.

I'm assuming you have a regular 1500. In my case, I did spacers and they worked just fine but mine is a megacab which uses different suspension. Mine stays mostly on pavement (going to work and errands) but it gets taken into some dirt pits every once in a while for fun.

It's a regular cab 1500, I don't take it riding rough too often but I do do it every now and then. But if I was to not install the spacers, just longer shocks would do the trick? Or what other parts would I need?

Shocks do nothing to affect height. They just smooth out the ride so you're not bouncing everywhere.
You can either do the spacers or replace the actual coil springs with ones that lift. Either way you have to do the same process, just depends on wether you put in a new coil or just throw the spacer in. If you do the lift you will need and alignment and personally I would recommend new shocks.

Sir , if you are talking about the Rear then yes you are correct!

If you are talking about the front end then very incorrect ... see the link I posted in post # 3 above .

Hope this helps !

Wasn't referring to struts. I meant traditional shocks. I've had conversations with people before who thought that adding "longer shocks" would give them lift. They basically confused the shocks with the coil springs. I forgot about the regular 1500's having different suspension. I'm used to my setup.
