OK I got a question I couldnt find the answer to. Thinking about leveling the front. But I have heard it is hell on the front end. What are they talking about? Ball joints or what? Anybody have any experience with this? Is there instructions on how to do this anywhere on here. Also what shocks to put on? This truck is not my show truck or baby. This truck is my daily driver and wood hauler, this truck is for work. I buy a truck for a truck. I am not one these people that buy a truck then are afraid to scratch the paint in the bed. Not looking to enter the Baja or anything just a good shock.

I had the same truck as you back in the day . You have 2 options as far as a level goes
1st and cheapest ... crank your T-bars . Under the truck you will see 2 bolts these are connected to your T-bars . Inside where the bolts are the torsion keys will be found , by cranking the bolts in the same amount of turns on each side this will give you 2-3 inches of front end lift . Now with that said you will be throwing the geometry of the front end out of whack so two things are needed ... new longer front shocks 2-3 inch longer ..and a alignment .
2nd ... you can get new lift keys that have the lift built in so you dont have to crank the bolts and the geometry is close to the same as OEM . This option will also require new longer shocks or some kits come with shock relocating brackets .

Keep in mind you can crank the bolts and get a alignment only but you will over extend the OEM shocks and it will ride like crap .

IMO I would get new keys and better riding longer shocks .

Thanks. What about the other components of the front end? Does it put extra stress or wear on them? If it does I will just deal with the droopy front end. I was just going after the level look and a little more clearance on front. Sometimes where the fire wood is at is not on the best of terrain.

Levels are fine , most guys run them . Problems come form just cranking T-bars . Get a good set of keys and front shocks and a proper alignment and you will be fine . Tops would be 200 bucks with good shocks .

okay thanks. Truck has 100k plus on it so not looking to spend a whole lot.
Probably time for new shocks anyway. But just had it aligned before I bought it.

Don't "level" the front end more than 2" and you won't have any issues with ball joints or other front end components. You didn't mention if you're 4x4 or not, but it's more of an issue for 4wd than 2wd.

Also if you are hauling with it the truck will no longer be level under load. I would just run some bags in the bad to keep it all level even when there is a good load on.

I had mine leveled with keys for awhile then took them off and sold them, on the 05 we just cranked the bars 4 turns I think, maybe 5. Just make sure you get it aligned like stated above and I would look into shocks. The 05 didnt need them but my 04 RCSB needed them with the keys.

i have an 04 durango slt awd as well as my ram. and the front suspension set up is the same. a year ago before i deployed i had a leveling kit put on my durango. the kit came from ready lift which i found out to be the best keys at a reasonable price, roughly $220. if you are going to have keys put on i would highly suggest having a shop put them on. they will have all the tools needed for the job. i had the offroad shop below my house put on the kit. the kit + labor + alignment (4 wheel) totaled to $400
