How much harsher is the ride after leveling? Is it really that horrible or is it more like over inflating the crap out of your tires?

In my experience 2" is about as far as you want to go before the ride starts to get stiff. Stock height is like a 70's caddy going over dips in the the road. Leveling about 2" is like driving a newer Mustang or Camaro. Cranking the bars 2.5" plus is like driving a lowrider with cut springs and welded shocks.

Ok maybe thats a little over exaggerated:)
Reasonably leveled, the ride is firmer but not harsh like having your tires inflated to 100psi.

That doesn't sound bad at all. 2.5 is basically max anyway with a stock tightening.

Will shocks help out the ride quality and where do i find a 2" longer shock? I've been looking and not having any luck.

For a 2" or less level I would say yes, good shocks will help the ride quality. Once you get to a point though I don't think any shocks will make much of a difference.
Try going to 4wheelparts.com or summit racing and search for shocks that are for a leveled truck. I believe both sites list them for 2" longer.

Its a little bit stiffer but not much. Quite livable. When I started it was 36.75 on one side and 37 on the other. Now it's 38.75" from floor to bottom of fender. The bolts hadn't been moved ever. I pb blaster it for a day before and everything moved ok, but it was stiff
