Sup guys,

I got my new truck all sounding good and everything. I want to level it out now.

Is anyone familiar with how much i need to raise the front end on my 2008 1500 4x4 with some spacers?

And will I need to get longer shocks in the front if I level it out? or do I just need to put the spacers in?

Thanks y'all in advance.

a 2" leveling kit is what you need. Send 3rdstrikeperformance a message and get a quote -- he'll hook you up. Yes, you will need longer shocks up front to prevent them from fully extending and making a loud smack everytime you go over a bump.

Thanks bud.

I appreciate it.

Although I do have another question that comes from your answer.

Is it absolutely necessary to get the longer shocks? I have heard of people riding with a level kit on the stock shocks fully extended. Does it become a problem or is it just noise?

i suppose necessary is a subjective term.

Tell ya what, do it this way...

Just get the leveling kit and use your stock shocks. Then when you hate the ride and cant stand the stock shocks anymore, get the correct length shocks and come back and post here about how we were right (just like we were about the v6 vs v8 fuel economy).

You can also get shock relocation brackets and keep the stock shocks . But my 2 cents I would just get new shocks .

It was more for my own knowledge, I don't know much about lifting and suspension.

Was just curious because I have heard of people driving with a level kit and stock shocks. One of which is on the forum.. ramgirl or something similiar.

Thanks again dude.

yeah its possible, just not comfortable at all :) everytime you drive over a bump, theres gonna a loud thud in the truck and you'll have to explain to your passengers that your ram isnt a piece of crap, you just didnt get longer shocks when you lifted it.

We've all gone through this man... keep the questions comin. I'll do my best to answer them honestly, without bias

Didn't think the trucks with spring spacers needed longer shocks (06 up) cuz they move everything down.

It depends on what kit you go with. On an '08, some of the kits just space down the whole strut/spring/shock assembly, so you wouldn't need new shocks. It'd be a good idea to check with whatever kit you decide to go with to see what the manfacturer recommends.

2 I think. Bighorn77 also used the bilsteins and thought I was nuts when I said it wasn't level. But it was exactly an inch off after install. The overload delete got it damn near perfect. I almost thing it has to do with a regular cab to a quad but haven't been able to prove it

stick with a 2" kit. You do not need new struts / shocks. Mine rides like stock with my spacers on it.

2.5" - you are starting to get too much of an angle on the CVs, possibly enough to cause vibration in 4WD.

Was it level when you installed the bilsteins?

i may be way off, but i think the RC's have more than a QC. just never asked anybody to measure stock hights to figure it out. i didn't measure mine before i installed them
