Hey guys..

K.. they aren't falling apart... poor choice of words.... anyways, read on.

I took a look at my tires on my 3500 today and it appears the new BFGs aren't holding up well at all. I'd like your opinion on how to proceed... I bought them from a dealer 400kms away, do I call the dealer I purchased them from, or the manufacturer? There isn't a local branch.

Below- 2x Tires have similar damage where the road surface of the tire has lost chunks of rubber.

Below - Not sure if this is a concern or not, it seems to be more than just the extra rubber, its actually into the meat of the bead.

Advice please.

i had a problem with a tire on my right rear on my 2012, 2 days after purchase. dealer wanted nothing to do with it. they will only do something if its the tpms or the actual rim. call the manufacturer. they shipped me a new one.

I contacted BFG, they've advised me to take it to any BFG dealer to assess what's happening. I've contacted my retail location who has sent me a receipt for the purchase, so we'll see how this goes. I will advise.

Well, Kal tire refused to assess the tires because I wasn't their customer. OK Tire accepted the warranty assessment and advised that BFG would not cover the damage because it won't affect the tire performance. They did not collect claim info from me. I called BFG and spoke with the BFG/Michellin (same company now?) Supervisor who was not impressed with their lack of concern. He advised I go to a different company (Tirecraft) to have them properly assess the issue so BFG can make the call.

More to follow on Monday.

Michelin and bfg have always been the same company. Just fyi it looks to me that the tires are stone drilled. If that's the case Michelin won't cover it. And the bead area ( just from pics) looks like bead damage from improper mounting. Hope everything works out

Premature tire wear condition. Rough roads, gravel, offroad etc cuts up the tread of the tire kind of like i see in pics. Normally worse though. But again it's hard to tell in pics a real inspection will give you best answer.

I'm running E tires, 100% on highway driving. If they are falling apart from that, they are crap. 40,000kms, rotated regularly.

By the way man i ain't sticking up for Michelin or any of that crap. I just deal with wheel and tire warranty on a daily basis and kind of know what there gonna say before they say it. Lol.

25000ish

No worries man... I wouldn't post a question if I didn't want honest answers. I'm letting BFG come through if they can, and I'll base my future tire purchases on that. I like Toyo as an option so we'll see what happens.

St let me say that I hope it all works out for you. But having had a lot of tires and Doing lot of highway driving, and have a good friend that works in the tire industry 25000 highway miles is a fair amount of miles for a bfg at on a heavy truck. That tire is not designed with a highway driving in mind and the tread design isn't designed to keep cool. I have seen I before when a tire retains to much heat and starts to come apart in the tread. As for the bead pic I agree with above, it totaly looks like someone snagged it when mounting it.

My pop's seems to average about 60,000 miles on his AT/KOs, mind you it's only a half ton. But a lot of those miles are with a trailer. *shrug*

Well, a hell of a way to come through from BFG. They are going to replace, mount and balance my two tires on the axel. Any shop I want to take it to. I'm going to get it done pretty soon here just so things are all good and no one forgets.

I was worried but the supervisor that called me back made things right.

Unknown cause, uncharacteristic tire damage.

I'm going to have the 2 tires replaced be the tread damage and the other one the bead issue, put the new tires on an axel and the 2 remaining tires on the other.

Question... More worn tires on the front or back, front wears quicker right?
