This is our 08 Ram 1500 Laramie, it has BFG rugged terrain tires on it with maybe 15000 miles on them and the stock 20" wheels. We were wanting to give the truck a different look without it looking tacky. Can anyone post pictures of make suggestions for wheels that would look good and do we need different tires also?

I dont want to bog the truck down too much because we will be towing a camper soon with it as well. (it has 3.92 gears also)

Maybe look at getting a set of used 4th gen Ram wheels.

With 20x9 wheels can I put a little bigger tire on these that gives it a little more "stance"? Or does that require20x10?

Or what about switching to 17" from the 20" we have? Would this be better for towing and ride quality?

so many choices. Is your truck 4x4? your current wheels are 20x9 with +19mm offset and if you are 4x4 your width without ANY rubbing of the UCA is a 285 tire. Might be able to fit a 295. If you wanted to run a 12.5" wide tire you would most likely need a 1/4" spacer. So your tire width choice will help determine new wheel offset.

whey you say more aggressive stance do you mean you want the wheels to maybe stick out from the fender just a little?

Yes it's 4x4. And yes maybe just a tab but I really don't want to do anything to get a harsh ride or bad towing. If I switched to 17" what would a good set up be? I hear 17" gives a better ride and better towing?

If I have a wheel with a different offset what will that change? What will I need if its different?

The smaller the offset number is the more the wheels will stick out, but this is also dependent on the width of the wheel itself.

As far as towing, I've never heard anyone say that a smaller wheel is better for towing, at least if the tire diameter remains the same. A smaller wheel will require a tire with a taller sidewall which will increase flexing and the truck wanting to sway or "float" around more. A 20" wheel with 35" tires will be a better combination for towing than a 17" wheel with 35" tires for example.

Not sure what your flavor is, throwing you one idea. You can enhance the rims you already have. Put some M/T's on it. Looks like you have a rake in the pic, get it leveled.

Here is my 07. Put the M/T's on it and it gave it an entirely new character. Never got around to leveling it before I sold it, but always thought it would have looked better. These pics reflect 25% remaining tread. Looked a little meatier when they were newer. 305/55/20....

I put a set of black 4th gen wheels on mine with 2" bora spacers. I love it. I just wish I could have gotten ahold of a set of sport rims. b28d28d166a5d2c54ef36486bbbe59a7.jpgaf93d1fce40e9542aaa3c1b238c057d4.jpg

These don't look bad for oem. Also have 1.5 inch spacers

Stock is 20x9 but I would say some 20x10 fuel rims would look pretty awesoem

We want to go with 18" versus our 20". What offset is ok, and what tire size do we need? No lift and no level.....We don't want MT because they have too much road nose for highway travel.

My preference I like the wide stance I would think 18x10 would be good and I would suggest an at tire which is all terrain there not loud like the mt I have the falken wildpeak on mines no road noise and so far thread life is really good and it's still a aggressive looking tire.

You need to figure out how much you want your new wheel to stick out for us to give you an idea of an offset number. That will decide how big of a rim you need. Changing rim size will affect your offset number. Also need to decide if you want to buy spacers or properly sized rims to get what you want. Do you want them out 1 more inch? 2"?
