Good question, and my uncle has a friend who does this kind of stuff, so I'm hoping I'll get a discount. I'm obviously going with him to get it done

I looked for it, and that's more expensive than 3rd strike. So I'm just gonna stick to them. Get a 5% discount. It doesn't sound like much. But I'm in between jobs and I'm trying to save a few here and there

I have an OEM STR-10 hood I bought from the dealer. I had it painted by the dodge dealer primarily because they have a paint scanner. This allows them to get an exact match, as apposed to buying paint factory using the paint code. As time goes on your paint fades so if you buy factory paint it could be a richer color than what is on your truck now, and the difference will show. The down side to this is it cost more for OEM parts and labor from the dealer, but to me it's about the quality.

As far as the intake goes on the hood. The SRT-10 hood scoop was developed to help vent out the heat from the engine...right? usually when you buy a CAI the intake scoop duct receives cold air from in-front of the radiator allowing the air to be forced in and up and into the CAI. The down side i can see to buying or building a duct from the hood scoop to the air box would be driving in the rain. Without some sort of redirecting shield you pose the chance of water being routed directly onto the air intake and being sucked into you engine.

But for my opinion I love the SRT-10 hood. It's sleek and aggressive at the same time. The venom hood is too busy and draws too much attention to it. I prefer things to blend evenly and not attract all the attention to one specific area, kinda like 24's on a rusty old catty....but this is only my $.02

Very well put, I'm probably just gonna get a new paint job. I've been keyed, egged, and dented in, so if I don't get a new paint job. I'll probably go to the dealer and get the paint. So I know it's an exact match.

Right now, I know of 3 people at my school with the 10 hood scoop. I just want to be a little off from them. Im not a fan of copying everyone I see, I'm just to be the 1st person to have a truck like that.

the dealer won't have paint to sell to you, except in little 5oz cans.

Go to a local auto paint store and have them mix paint for you.

Volant sells a CAI setup that makes the Scoop functional on the SRT-10's, with our stock hoods. I guess I wanted something a bit different, more aggresive looking.
