they busted me for extremely dark tinted tails
so like the gtp i am trying to design a new way to make it look dark but still function correctly

yup i got busted yesterday $70 dollar fine and i have to fix em...

He said Its illegal in every state (Got Pulled over in New Mexico)

how were they tinted? VHT or vinyl?

They are VHT. This next month im just going to replace them with these

I know in CT the lights have to be visible from 500ft in daylight..

mine were visible 400ft
and the 3rd and light bar

but mine were professionally done.

you guys are makin me nervous- i think i have 6 or 7 coats of VHT on mine... they are fine at night but quite hard to see druing the day. if i get stopped i will just strip the clear and VHT off and then rebuff them and add some clear- that should get them back to stock. then i will get something else with a black housing... but until then they stay black..

yup reason i used vinyl too, ive had cops follow me quite close and no issues here. father in law worked the beat as a local leo for years and said mine are not illegal but that goes right back to how the cop feels, and that can vary very much, and also depends on how much he/she wants to be a ****....fl law states clearly visible day or night at 400 ft. i will be getting a light bar soon so that should deter them if they start crackin down here....

Yeah i think the cop was just being a **** to me... I mean it was 12 at night and you can see my lights perfect at night..I could understand during the day but not at night

hes lying. my have 3 coats on them and the guys my wife works with (sheriff deputys) love the way my tails look. cus you can still clearly see them in the daytime and you can hardly tell there tinted at night but when the lights are off theres only a small remnants of red that you can see shine thru during the day.

if it were illegal in every state our undercover state troopers here wouldn't have theres tinted the same way.

Thats probably true but there are a different set of laws for the civilian and the law. For instance, the tint law, in SC it doesn't apply to cop cars.
