does it matter where the muffler is. because the muffler on my truck is right near the end of tail pipe, behind rear tire just about. its a kinda small muffler. truck has the loud growling sound when accelerating. I just wanted to change it to make it a little quieter.
should i change the location and/or use a different type of muffler to do this??
I have 2008 5.7 hemi
what muffler would u recommend?
thanks

Usually it's just before the rear axle. I don't know how having after the axle would change the sound. You're probably going to want something in the 24" to 28" length to give you the sound you after. MagnaFlow is, in my opinion, the best sounding muffler for the hemi, although I haven't heard in person corsa and carven. Flowmaster is another popular choice.

Unless the exhaust has already been changed the "muffler" at the end of the tailpipe should be if anything a resonator and not the actual muffler.

the muffler should be under the bed, pretty much in the middle of the distance between the front of the bed and the centerline of the rear axle.

You are definitely missing the muffler. The 2 small cans are your cats, the one after the axle is the resonator. That's designed to keep drone inside the cab down. So adding a muffler will quiet your truck down

So if I add a muffler, do I remove the resonator or can I leave it on?
