So, I gotta ask...did you use like caulk from Home Depot, for like a bath tub or something? Did the scope come with anything to affix it to the hood?

What I would of done (if going the DYI route) use 3m double sided tape to hold it on, and if anything, use body filler to fox the lines, and then sand it down.

I asked around , because of the different materials metal hood and fiberglass scoop, that was a no go. body filler would crack, too much expansion and flex, Yeah the rvt I used has silicone, but I plan too go over that with a paintable product. Just haven't found it yet, I may try seam sealer, I dunno yet. But the main thing is the seam is down to almost nil. Thats the point here for now. I may have it detailed professionally Because it (the truck) is so far gone. It has never been taken care of, since day one. I'm gonna try and do it my self. when the weather cooperates. Btw I used 3m tape, stuff works good ,if applied according to the directions.

Bill, So you had a reaction or just bad atonimization Buddy, cause you usually gotta either top coat within 4 hours or wait 3 Days for the clear when using spray bombs?

You should be able to fix it no probs but will have to mask off most of the hood.
Good Luck!

If you get a body shop involved see how mush it would be to fiberglass it in.

If you do bring it to a body shop then don't take it to maaco. Maaco may be the cheapest but there is a reason why its so cheap. Maaco only does single stage which means the paint and clear are all mixed together and sprayed at the same time. It wont be very shiny and over time the paint will come right off. Make sure where ever you take it does double stage.

500? see should have bought a hood from the beginning...

Thats too detail the whole truck, Not fixing a sanding issue on a scoop.Granted, that would be part of it however.:********:

When I get my SRT-10 hood from the Dealer (710$) it will cost 500 to have both sides prepped and painted! So 1200 Bucks thats alot. Bill, **** happens! You can't learn if you don't try and have balls for takin on things by yourself. Thats an easy fix with Spray Bombs, if I was close I could make that baby shine in the end for about 14 bucks!

The Hood itself is not painted right? so you could remove the scoop with a blow dryer (3M Tape) then clean up the silicone off the hood and re-wax! then you would have time to properly re-sand the scoop and repaint it, then you can re-attach it with some fresh (the thinner one) 3M and say fukc the gap as it would be minimal!

thnks o3, I will get it right. Silver , The 500 bucks would be added for the detail that it needs. Add that too another 710 for a hood, which would need another 500 for prep and paint . Thats 1710$ that I really don't have. And I am selfish, I admit, when it comes to mods and ''the look'' that I want.

Maaco down here does dual stage paint jobs...it all depends on what you want to spend...

looked it up, it's caled their "signature Series" which usually start at $1,000.00+
