I have 3.55s, but aren't those supposedly better for mileage, hence why new rams come with 3.21s.

I do not have mdd on because it was giving me a weird drivetrain vibration on my commute, hence why I bought the tuner.

I'm running the 87 tune with stock trans shift points as the superchips shift points were to high without the trans tuning.

I must admit, my commute is mostly city, but the slowest is 35 mph, and my truck can cruise around 1100 rpms in that zone. The rest of the commute is 45 or 55 mph. I travel about 8 miles in the morning, and about 10 in the evening.

The marginal gain you'd have from gears is being killed my no MDS.

also your truck is barely at temp by the time you get where you're going...cold engine=rich fuel mixture.

also the only reason the 8 speed rams have the taller gears is because 1-3 are stump pullers...different animal entirely.

Yea the 3.55 gears would be better for highway cause it could cruise at a lower rpm, our 3.92 gears would be better for city cause it takes less throttle to get rolling. And the no mds killed my mileage by 2-3 mpg when I had mine off, it's now back on.

I was getting about 12.5 to 13 on my commute with mds, and since I turned it off, I'm consistently at 13.5 -13.9 on the same commute.

Did you mean to state the exact opposite of this? You shut it OFF and picked UP 1.5mpg....?hmmmm

I'm actually planning on going down in wheel size to 17's with methods, or the ultra-wheel clones i posted about before. my stock tire size is 275/60 on 20inch factory wheels obviously. I will NOT be going with an aggressive offroad tire. Something like the mastercraft AXT's i have now will be it. only taller.

a 275-60r20 is 33 inches tall as it sits. I understand there will be a weight increase, but..factory steel 20's, with covers. downsizing to an aluminum 17, but then going with a "civilized" 35 tire...i'm thinking weight per corner won't be catastrophic.

but I didn't ask the question to just try to hear what i want to hear, so all these points are being taken into consideration. maybe i'm not thinking realistic on the marginal weight increase.

I think my next step will be to contact cooper, stay within one series "mastercraft axt" and see what the shipping weight is on a 33,35,37
You will love the mastercraft atx. I have them with about 20k miles on them and they still look new. Quiet on the road, ride smooth and have great traction.

Nope. I gained when I turned it off.

weird.

With winter blend i have been getting 16.0 Summer i'm mid 17's+. I'm almost scared to touch it. But the bedsides and doors won't make it another winter...so let the projects begin...
