I live in Colorado and winter is here, and I don't have any spare rims to install for the ice and snow. I have chrome rims and I really don't want to ruin them. Has anyone used plastidip to protect their rims from the elements during the winter? If so does it work? Will it damage my chrome when removing it in the spring? Any cons to doing this? Since my truck isn't murdered out I'm not sure what they would look like in black. Any advice or opinions are welcome. Thanks

Just make sure your wheels are spotless before you apply it so it'll peal off smoothly.

I can think of zero reasons why this wouldn't work.

Here's a closer view of my truck. Any recommendations for colors? I know there's not many to choose from, but I'm thinking black or gunmetal with a gloss coat.

Sounds like a winner. Does anyone have any idea how many coats and 11oz cans I should buy to cover the entire rim front, back and inside? I've never used it and never thought I would, so hopefully it won't be too hard. I've painted a lot of stuff so it shouldn't be too bad. Lastly is there any need to cover the rubber on the tire or valve stems?

It's super simple to apply. Just make sure you get a nice thick coat so it will peel off a lot smoother... Too thin of a coat and you will be spending a lot of time pulling little tiny strips off.

If you go to youtube and put it "How To" Plasti dip wheels, there are a ton of videos. just apply in coats, light to heavy. You don't want to cause runs in it or bubbles. If you spray to much on at one time it will cause a lot of tiny bubbles and it looks rough.

I did mine, when I peeled them they were spotless, the thicker you put it on, easier it is to peel when you want to take it off...
