Hey all,
I've got a 2008 Ram 1500 and i'm thinking of tinting the tail lights. Ive got the 08 lights so they don't seem very easy to do because of how they're shaped. Has anyone done it to these lights? If so, if you could let me know the best way to go about it and any other info you could give me I would appreciate it. Thanks

Here's a pic for what my tails look like: 08 Tail light

I hate the way those look... personal opinion. But if it was me, I would sell those and get some off an 04 or 05, that way they look better and they will be easier to tint. What are you going to use to tint them? VHT?

VHT is proabably what I would do, but if anyone has any better or easier ideas lemme know. Yeah, I might look around on ebay or something see if I can find a good deal. Would be much easier to tint the old style too...

Craigslist is the way to go... see if you can find someone with those tail lights, never know, they might swap straight across

if you vht 'em, go over that with clear - so its not dull.

Also, the 02-06 lights are not a drop in solution, you'd need to rewire some stuff to get that to work.

Or you could just order some LED lights that have the same wiring harness

i second the LED idea.......if the ones for my truck didn't look *** (with the circle reflector!) I'd buy a set. I miss the ones I had on my 08.

The 02-06 taillights have three bulbs and the 07-08 taillights only have two bulbs so you can't switch them. A guy at work has an 08 and he tinted the tails but left the flat part on the circles clear which looks really good.

Ill definitely look into the LED. The reason I'm skeptical about VHT because if I mess up I don't want horrible looking tails lol. Is doing it via VHT reversible?

This sounds pretty sweet. Probably would make it much simpler also.

VHT will also fade away over time so I would go with new led lights
