So, over the Winter I want to smooth, glass and paint my dash (among some additions). Has anyone ever pulled their 3rd gen dash apart? Anything I need to know before I start pulling crap apart?

yeah a phillips or a 7mm socket will do most of the screw removal the just pull. if it doesnt come right out double check for hidden screws and pull harder

Just remember to start from the lowest point (cup holder) and work your way up.

personally, i love them. i think they make installation/removal much easier. I'm really impressed with the interiors of these dodges. Chevy interiors like to rattle over time. I've never heard a rattle out of the Dodge interior

^^^^ +1 my friends Cheby rattles like a ****, it was even worse when he had a sub. Plus I think the total install for my headunit was like 15 minutes total including the wiring of the HU plug to the adapter harness, so the clips make for quick work.

I'll give you a hand Dan. I've had most of my dash off a few times.

Just be sure you put it all back together right, I pulled the dash when I did a install a while back and had a rattle coming from a wire connector that wasn't put back in the right spot.

You might want to download this before you grab the Chilton....

Download PDF Dodge Ram 2006 Service Manual - Includes SRT-10 and Diesel | PDFTown.com

Install a rar decoder first.

Cool, thaks George!

Wait... you wanna what? What's Smooth, glass and paint?

Yes, smooth it, fill it, prime it, and paint it.

fiberglass, sand and paint?
sounds pretty straight forward to me. but i've do glass work before

I want to glass in some speakers, do the door panels, and perhaps and Ipad.

oh ok, didn't think of fiberglass. That seems like a pretty extensive project. Make a do-it-yourself if you do. I'd like to see how that process works.

It's going to be. I am however done with the truck show wise till June. i have 4 major projects to get done!

Yea, seems I always end up with extra parts lol
