Center console swap...

I have an 08 Laramie 1500 and I have the fixed console I between the front seats. My roommate just got an 07 with the full front seats. I kinda miss the full front like was on my 2000 and 1997 ram. It looks like we can swap them out fairly easily. Any one tried this? I guess it's just personal preference, but any reasons why I shouldn't swap? Thanks guys

it can be done but most guys swap to the center counsle not the other way. the center counsle can fetch a good amount thought.

That console is worth 1,000.00 bucks the storage seat is like 100.00 bucks. Hopefully its not a straight trade.

Nope. Been attempted. Won't work. The front of the console and the cup holder area of the 02-05's.

what?? thats not making sense...are you saying it wont work due to it wont line up to where the cup holder is

But the 02-05 and the 06-08 are two completely different shapes when it comes to all that, the center console takes an entirely different piece where the cup holders go, they don't make that piece that fits the 02-05. It just would be a nightmare of body line and fitment.

i dont think i would need to cut the dash...but i know that the ashtray can be remove...the only issue would be is my 4x4 shifter...its on the floor so it would have to be moded to be longer to come up some or i would have to trim a door on the side to shift it when needed

You would have to cut it even if you removed the ashtray.

Just build a customer box that will fit over the floor shifter and extend the shift lever up through the new box. Then you could purchase the cup holder part that goes with the 06-08 models and place that in the new custom box. That's my plan anyway when i get around to it.

If somebody would sell me a jump seat with the lower storage for ~ $100 I'd jump all over it. All of them I've seen in gray are around $200.

The full console isn't an option for me, because of the shifter/boot location.
