And another fun build begins.

What I have here is a console I am making to fit my needs. It is going to be made out of wood. It is going to consist of 4 aux switches, gps/back up camera system, CB, aux speaker for CB, 2 cup holders, and a custom lights up RAM.

I'm gonna explain this layout the best I can. The front is going to consist of 3 face plates. Top face plate will include the gps/ back up system in the middle, and 2 aux switches on both sides of it.

The middle face plate is going to consist of the CB only.

And the bottom face plate is going to have the RAM cut out in it.

After all of these face plates are installed onto the console, I am going to make 1 faceplate to go over the 3 different face plates (make it look like one solid unit) This faceplate is going to be made of Plexiglas. I'm going to VHT the Plexiglas (nightshade). Do to this be nightshaded, you will NOT be able to see the RAM that I have cut out on the bottom faceplate UNTILL I turn my runnning lights one. That will activate a RED led behind the RAM causing it to light up. The RAM will also act a sort of a cup holder light.

The sides of the console will be wrapped in carpet OR bedlined. I still have not decided yet. The AUX speaker is going to be mounted on the side facing out (flesh with the side of the console)

Do to having a 4x4 shifter, it kinda dicked me on room. But I making this the best I can.

This is a rough draft so there may be some changes.

I'll be doing this at some point, ditching the center seat and building the consul all the way to the back. Have it hide a few things as well.... Cant wait for some finished pics.

Did you nightshaded Plexiglas? Should I prep it and do it just like I would my taillights?

I actually did it to a cutting board, it was the only thing I could find when I did mine...

I only wonder if sanding on that plexi will make it really hazy....

^^^ Thats pretty cool. And I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip.

I'm only gonna night shade one side of the Plexi (side facing down) I'm gonna to sand it down, hit it a few times with light coats of VHT, clear clote, wet sand the clear coat with 1500-2000 grit, then polish it with polishing compound. I hope it works out

Yeah I've got red bars that I still need to install for mine so that it will light up. Might do that this weekend..I wanna see what you come up with because I may extend my console with cup holders and a storage tray..
