Well, Trup my first order of business is to remove the folddown drink holder and ashtray and fab a new piece to go in there. Will design a coffee cup holder and maybe a small storage slot or mount my temp guage there and spare slot for future trans temp Gauage. I have a sheet of Diamond in the shed and after it is done prolly paint it either gloss black or Patriot Blue along with the radio surround.

The shifter should fit ok with small trim to the rear of the black box where the carpet curves up in front of the seat. The 4 ft cable is designed for use with the 727 Trans so I'm not sure if I can use the supplied bracket yet or if the end needs to be modded. (it's supposed to bolt to trans pan so might need longer M-Bolts).
If the 4 ft cable is too long i can order a 2 or 3 footer as well, but with the transfer case there I think I'm OK.

Its Winter so I'm not gonna rush the Job. At work we have a huge Machine Shop and some real talented Guys who can fab anything If required (Donuts as payment usually) when it comes to the cable end or hanging bracket.

More To follow with Pics as this comes together. Thanks for listening!

Me too Aaron! We were 6 people in the Truck Tonight (Me, Wife, and 2 Daughters and 2 of there Girl Freinds) and I Told the Wife that when the Shifter goes in it'll become a 5 seater, plus the dog in the Middle up front as there will be no feet that'll touch it!

Danny,
Take lots of pictures, this is going to be sweet. I can't remember if I mentioned a "Line Lok" switch is a momentary switch that I think can be used for the OD switch. It can be mounted to the stick. Very cool...

Maybe you could design an out of the way cup holder like RubberFrog did?

:********:Received two more parts this week for the Project. A small weld is required to get those two ready (Hopefully Tommorow). I have one more Part coming from the states to solve my cup holder problem sort-of! It should arrive any day, then I can spell out the plan with part numbers take some pics in the next week or so of these parts w/total cost then attempt the install. I won't do that however till after the Truck is back from the Gear Install on 4 Jan.

MTF.

Pics taken of above mentioned two parts that required modification (90% complete) will finish that up and the final part from the USA to replace the cup holder has arrived and I will pick that up Tommorrow (will take a pic of that too). So I have all the stuff I need to start the Job, so next thread by me will be to show the parts and give the plan.

I have the next eleven Days off, but will prolly not start the install till after my Gears are in on 6 Jan 2011.

I have Cab Lights to do and plan on giving the Magnum a Claybarring and Wax as I will have access to the Big, well heated Shop at work. I love Vacation!!

Merry Xmas

UPDATE:

This Truck shifter kit comes with Cable and asst brackets. The Dodge applications are based on the 727 Trans. At first I thought I could Mod together what I needed to make this thing work but before proceeding I thought to have another look.

As you can see our Trans has two brackets. One That bolts to the side of the trans and holds the cable and the other which is an arm attaching to the selector shaft going into the trans.

another angle

2010-12-10113800.jpg

a view of the arm on the selector shaft in which the cable is snaped onto it using a plastic piece onto a protruding ball

2010-12-10113636.jpg

So I then thought the best way to proceed would be to Purchase both these brackets and modify them to accept the B&M Cable. That way the angle and distance for the cable would be as closest to the OEM set-up, would look pro when done and also could keep all the oroginal parts together un destroyed for future use should anyone want to put the Truck back to Original.

Pic of the 1st Bracket (slightly different design but mounts same w/ large hole)

Other Bracket (selector shaft) arm. Notice the protruding ball piece and the black piece in the background with cotter Pin is what the B&M Cable needs to attach Too (hold that thought for my next post).

Next I will explain what I did to adapt it to the B&M cable which will appear later in this Post.:)

(OK Part 2 of Todays Update from PAGE.3)

Modification of the Brackets:

I found a washer that fit inside the OEM Cable sized hole that also had the new sized hole as per the B&M Cable.

2010-12-20142004.jpg

Next i had our welder at work weld her up. Some grinding and voila. Some final deburr tweak and a shot of black paint and she'll be ready.

2010-12-23123851.jpg
2010-12-23123912.jpg

Next the gear selector lever type bracket.

First I cut off the ball end with my trusty Dremel w/ Cut-off Tool.

2010-12-23093925.jpg

Filed her Down Flush.

2010-12-23094622.jpg

Next I drilled a 5/16 Hole in the location as shown (for good reason when you see the other side of the bracket).

2010-12-23095204.jpg

Other side of Bracket where I needed the hole to be centered between the first step and the outer edge.

2010-12-23094643.jpg

Next I test fitted the the B&M Piece that accepts the new Cable (Which BTW screws into this piece for fine tune adjustment...More on that later).

2010-12-23095327.jpg

Luckily the thickness of this bracket is exactly the minimum distance required to allow the cotter pin to be inserted.

2010-12-23095304.jpg

My next concern was to allow this piece to pivot back and forth as I want to give it some movement angle for final hook-up, hence the black marker marks on the metal step (Pick Above). I trimmed those off with the dremel which gave me the extra movement I wanted.

2010-12-23100726.jpg

Some Black paint to pretty it up and she's ready to Go.

2010-12-23102351.jpg

Next I will show off the piece that I hope will solve my problem with having to remove the Cup Holders that will be un-usable/in the way of the shifter in Flip-Down Mode.

OK. Part 3 of Todays Update:

The only other concern in this project was what to do in the Cup-Holder area.

2010-12-10152353.jpg

As you can see I have a Diamond piece already there and will keep it to add some rigidity to the Mounted Shifter Bracket when in place.

2010-12-10143108.jpg

With a dry fit you can see the cup holder will be useless.

2010-12-10143237.jpg

At first I was gonna mod away and fab something in place, Then I ran across a Pic of the interior of a 6 speed ram and found the solution.

2010-12-10113626.jpg

Although very expensive?? This will sort the problem in that area. I Didn't realize it came with a hole in the top that appears to be for a light, so I picked one up that will fit into the hole to light-up the pouch area of this piece.

I still have to fab up some type of Cup Holders for me and the Pass side and will deal with that later (as I do Love my Coffee/ got some Diamond plate thoughts too!).

So next will be planning the Install. I would love to do this next week and am confident the process will work out just fine however want the Truck Roadworthy for Tues the 4 Jan as thats when my appt to have the Gears done and just incase don't want a minor snag to cause me to miss that appt.

Danny your doing alot of good work there. I like how your slowly thinking it our step by step, that happens to be my downfall... I wanna throw it in soon as I get my hands on something. I never saw a oic of that diamond plate is it new just to add support like you said in the last post or had you had it for awhile?

Thanks, This Mod is new territory so I wanna make sure my plan works!
Down Side to doing a play by play is if You Fuckittup you can't backpedal!
Like you, I like to get-er-done on the spot, but I want the Truck offline the minimum amount of time when I do this one.

As for the Diamond Plate, i put that in about 2 years ago along with another Pce in the Back (when I was going diamond plate Crazy). I'll take a pic of the other piece for ya. Funny how things work out eh! as I think it will help with the support.

Edit: Heres a PIC....LOL....Not much use in a SCSB...It helps when the Kids are hopin in with their winter Boots as it cleans up easy!

I have a rubber mat for my center seat upfront and it never gets used unless were riding three wide which rearly happens other then truck night at the sand drags. The metal just looks good, maybe shoot it or make it out of black diamond plate for my truck... you got me thinking again.
