I had a quarter tank of gas and noticed my gauge was up to half a tank, now it fluctuates between 1/4 and 3/4 a tank of gas. This is on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7. Any idea what this could be and how hard it is to fix? Thanks!

Yeah sounds like you fuel gauge sending unit in fuel tank is going out
That's what I thought. Do I need to drop the tank to fix it, or can I squeeze my arm between the tank and bed and do it?

No it will have to be tank removal or bed removal to do it
One other thing, not sure if you know or not.....
I've been told by a few people that the fuel pump and fuel sender are one piece, is that true? So that would mean I need a new fuel pump, right?

They are not really one they are sold as one whole unit and Im not sure about sending unit being sold by its self but if I was going to go through the trouble of going to that point id change pump as well
