trying to figure out why I only get heat on the passenger side vents and cold on the drivers side and defrost when running my heater. My AC blows cold on all vents. I have flushed the heater core (maybe not good enough). My next step is taking the dash apart to inspect the blend doors. I do not have dual climate controls. My question is how would the doors fell causing only heat on the passenger side and cold air on the passenger side. From what I can tell from videos I have found online that each set of doors on the heater core work as a single unit. If one should fell (drivers side) then both should fell(driver & passenger sides). That would cause no heat. Should I try flushing the heater core again? Before tearing out the dash.

I have an 04. You are getting heat so flushing the heater core probably will not matter. Go with your instincts and check the blend doors

Had exact same problem on my 02. It was the heater core plugged up. I disconnected both heater hoses at the engine. Took hose and flushed it out. Then poured in some CLR and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then flushed both directions forcibly into a bucket. Large amount of deposits came out. Flushed till clean. Afterwards had heat on both sides again.

How did you force water through the hoses? Your blend doors were functioning properly?

Hose with a sprayhead on it. Yes, no problem with the blend doors. It was just the core clogged up. I did quick short bursts with the sprayer to break it loose.

Hopefully the OP will treat the heater core and check the blend doors

I flushed it out once already. Did not use any force through. Ran water out of my hose through both side until it ran clear. Can it still be plugged. Does not hurt to flush it again. Would be a lot quicker to fix VS pulling the complete dash out to check blend doors.

I would use the CLR in it. It will break up the deposits. Only let It soak for 15-20 minutes.

Most vehicles heater core stand straight up and down. Our cores lay flat and can clog easier. The way the air moves across it, if the top half clogs up, you lose heat to drivers side. The bottom half may still have flow, so passenger side still has heat. We don't have a blend door that works side to side. Blend door problems normally will be up and down. You may have heat at defrost, but not vents or floor. It is a problem in early 3rd gen rams.

Thanks, for the help. Flushed it out again today I did not use CLR but did use some Prestone radiator cleaner. I now have heat on both side.
