I have had my 03 2500 with 60k miles for 2 months now. I've been averaging 9-10mpg in the city. I know I'm not going to be getting amazing gas mileage, but 2-4 more would make me happy especially since this is my daily and I plan on getting a travel trailer soon for family road trips. The truck isn't lifted and has smaller tires than any other truck I've had. Since I got it I've changed the oil, installed a cold air intake, changed spark plugs and today I had the emissions checked. I was kind of hoping the emissions test would tell me something but it passed. I'm kind of at a loss at this point.

Forgot to mention I'm a very conservative driver. I keep RPMs low and don't have a lead foot. I coast to stops when possible.

Hate to say it but my 2000 2500 8.0L V10 got that mileage around town. If I was traveling I got as high as 13.2 mpg and if I hooked up a trailer it was 9 when traveling. But the worse ever was high winds and steep climbs in UT where I had one tank full towing my toy hauler and I got ......................................................... 3.94 mpg.

My 1500 is only managing 10.5-ish all city. But I like to DRIVE it a little, you know? Stock ride height, stock motor, k&n drop in, muffler delete, 275/60R20's, quad cab

For some reason I've been up 1mpg pretty reliably since driving it only in towing/hauling mode. Guess keeping revs between 2-2.5k at cruise is best. And keeping it at 2.5k-3k max during acceleration is also good for mileage.

Anyone got ant ideas to improve these numbers?

That does feel a bit low though... at least compared to mine. My 5.7 2500 is a quad cab long bed and even dragging that fat ass around I still get 12-13 in town and I drive it like I stole it 80% of the time.
