The strange thing is, when I hold the engine at 2000 rpm, it runs much better and smoother, however, it cuts out suddenly and drops down to 600 rpm. This would indicate a faulty coil or idle air control valve to me. Can't figure out why it's not throwing a code though. Thank you, Tommy.

When it drops back RPM like you say do you notice if the lighten bolt on the lower right hand of the dash flashes?

I have been watching for that and nothing appears to be flashing. I don't hear any strange sounds coming from the engine as well.

Let me start up the engine and bring it up to 2000 rpm and again watch for that lightning bolt in the lower right hand corner of my dash cluster. I'll get back you on that.

Only reason I ask is because the TB could be faulty along with the symptoms your descibing. Mine would randomly kill the truck or cause a stall situation, no codes on that also.

Yes, the response you were getting sounds the same with mine. So you replaced the throttle body and that solved your problems?

Yeah I went ahead and tossed a ported one on there seeing as I was in the process of doing more things. Dealer cost should be in the $200 price range.

Thats just another thing to check for

Well, I just want to get this truck running so I can sell it before I lose out completely. I'll just replace the stock throttle body with another one. I will let you know how things turn out. I appreciate your support. Thank you, Tommy.

Brand new throttle body

I purchased this brand new throttle body from Ebay for $116.97 + $15.95 shipping. I should receive it some time next week. Lets see what happens. Thank you, Tommy.

According to the Ebay listing. it is suppose to fit from 2003 to 2008. When I plug in my application, the results come out compatible. I notice that the part number listed which is: 53032801ac does not match the part number on my throttle body which is: 53032120ac. I'm hoping that the part number that is listed is an updated or upgraded model number. We shall see when I take delivery. Here is the link to that Ebay listing: Dodge Ram throttle body 53032801ac Durango 5.7 engine fuel injection | eBay

If its wrong you can buy the 05 up connector and splice in your wires.

I installed the new throttle body. The plug wire connector was a little hard to get in. I had to use a little extra force, then it went in. I think the locking tang on the side of the throttle bodies wire connector was a little different. In any case, the response is still the same. No change. I previously purchased a crankshaft sensor which I did not install. So I had my son help me replace that. Still no change. Same bad response. This thing is blowing my mind. I'm thinking of putting some type of additive in the gas tank to see if the reponse gets better. Something that will help to clean the fuel injectors. This all started with two codes popping up a while back which I posted here in the forum. The two codes were: P0203 and P0172. Then for what ever reason, the codes cleared by itself and never came back. So, now I'm thinking this may still be the problem. If it is the problem, why aren't the codes popping up? This is really strange. Any suggestions on what to check on next, or what type of additive I can use to clean out the fuel injectors? If the response gets better, then I can replace the injectors. Thanks for your support, Tommy.

Alright, heres whats prob happened seeing your an early hemi. Pull the valve covers and check for broken springs in the valve train. Sounds like a spring or two has broke but luckly the valve hasnt dropped.

Did you end up pulling the covers to check springs, and push rods if they are seated good?

I found this fuel additive called: AMSOIL P.I. It is suppose to be very good for cleaning fuel injectors and removing carbon build up. I will try it today to see if there is any change in the engines performance. If there is no change, then I will look elsewhere. Thank you, Tommy.

No, not yet. I wanted to try using the fuel additive that I purchased first. I really feel that the fuel injectors are clogged. Let's see what happens with the additive. If the additive does not change the engines performance, then I will look elsewhere. Thank you, Tommy.
