Just curious why everyone here prefers Y-pipes instead of an X pipe for better flow and less back pressure (2 in. 2 out)??

Mostly because a Y pipe will fit easier under the truck. A little back pressure is necessary for low end torque. But if you can find a shop that will weld in an x pipe, more power to ya.

Well that kinda makes sense as to why it didnt come stock with duals...bought my 2004 5.7 (single cab) with 73000 miles last week an want to start modding, it has a Volant CAI..I'm going with exhaust first, then Intake Manifold/TB, tuner, then way down the road Heads/Cam

Nice, I bought my truck with 74,000 on it. And when you say intake manifold what do you mean? Because I only know of a couple manifolds for the hemi's, and most of them are for retrofitting carbs onto the engine.

Well I have two Z-28s, one a 383 striker Lt1 96' and a 98 z28...not too sure on mopar motors, but there is an intake manifold that sits above the heads correct??

And preferably port matched to my throttle body, honestly I wrecked my Camaro and had to get a vehicle in ONE day, I saw this one for 9,000 so I nabbed it...I love it so far and look forward to getting used to it

Well I'm saying there is not much aftermarket available in the realm of intake manifolds. The only one you could get would be an XV manifold (expensive) or a 6.1 manifold (parts needed to make it work are expensive). Honestly just stick with the stock manifold and just get a ported throttle body. And the manifold is plastic, so you can't port match it.

Eeekkkk :(...that was a decent bolt-on upgrade with my GM cars, but thanks a bunch, and I look forward to being active here on your forum..with that being said I forgot to ask, what would be a decent stall/torque converter rpm for my truck??

I'd say somewhere around a 2800-3000 stall. Go talk to Tony or Jeremiah at Bully's Performance. They can get you set up right with a good Edge Converter.

Well I know "Yank" makes some badass converters, not sure if they have any for my truck

*edit* using the search button from now on, I know it's annoying posting off topic..

Coming in fresh you would be wise to go slow and ask questions as you proceed. It'll save you time and money in the long run. The approach is different than throwing bits at a GM.
