Just blew the motor in my 2005 Power Wagon. I have a lead on a 2010 5.7L motor out of another Ram. Will this motor work? Any issues to watch for. I am trying to find an engine interchange guide but have not been successful.

Thanks,

Scott

No. Newer 5.7's have VVT, active intake and MDS, plus the accessory drive is different. You need an engine from an 03-05 1500 engine or an 03-08 2500 engine (these will not have MDS and will be a drop in). You can use an 06-08 1500 or 05-08 LX engine, but these engines will have the MDS lifters and solenoids.

Can't he just use the computer from the donor, I mean if everything's there it shouldn't be an issue, right?? Just curious

No. 05 is a PCI bus vehicle, the 10 is a CAN bus (not compatible).
Hemilonestar- I'm in the middle of a swap and didn't research the fitment before hand. I have an 05 charger hemi and dropped in a 2010 300c hemi. Is there any way I can get it to work. I have everything available from the donor 2010 300c.

Did you just buy one figuring any random hemi would work lol? *******...
Ok, now that's out of the way, you might actually in a good position. There were no Chargers for the 05 model year. I will assume you actually have an 06. If you have access to the PCM and harness from the 300, at minimum you will need those to swap in. Major problem you're gonna run into is ensuring correct pins in the rest of the harness to the newer PCM and having to have it flashed correctly to interface with the car.

Thr reluctor wheels are different count. Will rewuire pcm swap to make run or you might get away with and externally mounted tone ring to match the 05. MDS can easily be deactivated.
