Your truck has an Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay in the fuse box that controls both the spark and fuel injectors. If the truck whines but doesn't turn over when you turn the key then it sounds like a bad starter solenoid.

It also could be either the Crankshaft Position Sensor or the Camshaft Position Sensor, I'm not sure if it is either or both. The engine will turn, but not start.
The only way to tell, is to check the engine codes...
