Hey guys i posted earlier about rebuilding my 5.7. Had two rod bearings go out. Destroyed the crank and both rods. Decided it was time for upgrades. I bought a 392 stroker kit with CP pistons at 10.62:1 comp. I am putting a howards cam in it that is comparable to the comp 260. Also a set of JBK shorty headers. I have a diablosport i1000 tuner that i am going to have a custom tune done. will upload pics when i get my smartphone back from the warranty. My question is what should i do with the exhaust after the headers? want something with just a little growl to it but still be tolerable in the cab. Also what about the cats and the sensors?

Do you have the headers already? If not I would go with Long tube rather than shorties. For the $$ difference you will get much more in performance.

As for the exhaust, you can do pretty much what you want, just make sure you have a "Y" "X" or "H" pipe before the muffler to handle back pressure and maintain low end torque.

From a sound perspective you may find some help by browsing this thread :

Hope this helps.

Id honestly do LTs to gain the most out of all that work, into a true dual set up and a 24" maggy. That should compliment the build with the cam well, shorties will really limit your output with all that work and money in the motor. just my opinion

I have not got the headers yet. I ordered a set but they do not fit the 2500. In fact i am having a hell of a time finding headers (long tube or shorty's) that will fit my truck. If anybody knows of a pair that will fit a 2006 ram 2500 4wd i could use an idea!

those are the only headers i have found that fit. the motor is still being built right now so the room shouldnt be a problem
