Just out of curiousity, has anyone done a 426 conversion in a ram? I know a few guys in the lx groups have done them in their cars but curious to see if anyone knows of anyone that has done one in a ram? When my engine goes, and I am sure one day it will, I want to replace it with something like this

I bet it is just a 6.1 with head work and a cam just looking at that site. I have seen online people saying they have put a 6.1 in the trucks but I know the 6.1 headers will not work in our engine bays. The price tag on that thing is through the roof, im willing to bet you could go to a small stroker motor and be just as drivable. The engine management will also be the issue, in that description they say they have put that motor in a 300c im guessing they left out the part it was prob already a 6.1 in that car.

a 426 crate motor runs about 14,000. i know they make a 392 stroker for the 5.7 and a 426 stroker kit for the 6.1. there were talks of making a 426 stroker kit for the 5.7 but i havent looked into it in a while. those stroker kits run about 3g if i remember right. there was a shop that do the install so all said and done you would have your stroked motor for like 7000. man ryan i have dreamed about dropping the 426 but at that price for the crate then you have to get everything else....

A 6.1 based 426 stroker is really what I would be looking at, and I know there is at least a handful of guys that have done the 6.1 swap. Just havent seen anyone with the 426 stroker in one.

I have looked at the one inertia sells and thats where I would more than likely look for everything.

Any stroker that's 426 is 6.1 based, and yes we've installed 6.1 based strokers, but mostly 5.7 based. Also consider that when they say 426 in reality it's more like 418ish, which is only 18CI more then my 5.7 based 400CI stroker, or 20-25HP more then mine at a substantial higher expense. The block and heads have heavy core charges, and the intake is very expensive.

Those other guys are on crack to think somone is gonna drop that coin for that. Im willing to bet you can get a better motor built for 10k built to handle spray.
