I am considering buying a rebuilt 05 5.7 hemi with 6.1 cam, intake manifold, bored .030, and it comes with engine harness, mounts, ecm, and has 0 miles. With my truck being an 07 with the TIPM how difficult would this swap be? I know ill have to get a cable driven tb and a few other items but how much work, money, and hassle will this be? If I did do it I would want everything to function inside and out, no cel's, and no half ass looking install. Opinions, comments, and advice welcome. Thanks.

not positive here but I think in 06 they switched to like a different style wiring harness. so the wiring wouldnt match up to your connectors for your cluster and all

That's exactly what I was thinking bc in 06 they added the TIPM, which will make everything difficult.

Yeah they changed out the wiring harness. It is possible to do the swap but you would have to update either the engines management system or your trucks. Still worth the hassle though.

Mega, I'm working with an 07 Ram with a 4.7 - do you have any info on what to change out with that harness? do I need the entire engine harness, or just part of it? can I get it from a charger or 300? I found a few motors in Atlanta out of cars, and was thinking about using one of those.

You guys need to talk with someone who has actually done this swap. My opinion is to use the 4.7 PCM and harness and just modify the harness to the point of connecting it to the engine. Then doing a custom tune to the 4.7 PCM to run the engine. This way there are no problems with the interface with the truck's wiring or systems such as security or TIPM. My 2 cents..
