What would it take to drop the 6.4 hemi in a 05 besides the obvious? Would the 5-45rfe bolt up?

Edit: I'm not talking about the 6.4 stoker

Are you 4wd? If not you'd be better off using the trans that came with the motor cause custom bell housings ain't cheap if you use the 545. It'd be sweet tho.

Doing a 6.4 swap from an srt I'm assuming, would be easier with the motor and trans since you're 2wd. It won't be cheap or easy by any means, but sure would be unique.

Tuning for the 6.4 from the ram would be complicated I think, but it would greatly outperform a stock truck because it's highly detuned for longevity.

If you want a 6.1, save yourself a ton of money and do a stroker. Haha.

A lot of bad info in here...haha. For starters, the 6.4 motor is a VVT motor, so you would need a standalone to use this.

I'm assuming that is not an option for you, so your next best option is to stroke your 5.7 or go with a 6.1. 6.1 will bolt right up to your existing transmission, and tuning is no different than tuning your current 5.7.

So I noticed LOL. The actual 6.4/392 is VVT (as mentioned) and MDS except in stick shift LC cars. Not designed to work with the type PCM the OP's truck has. It will bolt to an RFE, how long that RFE will last as open to interpretation. Someone mentioned differences/issues between 2wd and 4wd. Using an RFE either doesn't matter, it's the same trans except where the tailshaft or transfer case adapter is. A newer 8sp isn't an option either, as the programming is actually inside the trans and needs the newer PCM to work with.
With the sheer amount of $$ you might spend trying to adapt and make it work in your truck, it would be ALOT cheaper and easier to drop in a 6.1 or stroke out your stock 5.7. 5.7 based 392 stroker is easy, relatively cheap, will be a factory fit, especially if you use your original cylinder heads (though I would get head work done, big valves, etc) to help take advantage of the displacement increase (with a cam to match). You have an 05 which is arguably the best year for custom tuning (to take full advantage).
