Well I went to summit today and picked up a T1000. Got it home, did all the necessary updates and programming and have it running in the truck no problems. Took a few hours of messing around on the computer but not terrible. I have the 03 hemi, and heard there isn't much tuning capabilities with the tranny but I've done the TMR delete already anyways. I've got two main questions right now. For one, 2003 Ram 1500 wasn't listed anywhere in the tuner options, so I went with selecting 2005 and it seemed to work ok, but I will be calling diablo after the holiday to get a good answer on that. And for number two, I didn't notice anything different! I'm running 89 octane in the truck and set it for 87 performance tune and nothing felt different in the least. Then I loaded the economy tune in and did some highway driving and mpg was exactly the same on the trip computer as it normally would be (after a fresh reset). Do I need to hard reset the pcm? Is this normal? I'm not expecting huge gains but something different would be nice for a $550 tuner.

The canned tunes are junk, You need a custom tune to make it worthwhile.

Ok so if I went hemi fever or such, do you just tell him give me a balence between mileage and power? Is it one or the other? How much better is 91 octane to justify .50 a gallon more around here?

Trade my SuperChips 3865 for it :naughty: lol

Do you have Sam's Club near you? if you had a membership thru them, they offer 93 octane for usually 20 cents more than 87, at least in my area they do.

He can tell if you're running gas from there and will tell you to run gas from shell, bp, or Sunoco because he can see that the truck isn't running to its potential on gas from places like that.

Yea I thought so to. After I sent him my first data log when I first got the 93 tune from him, he asked if I was running gas from a store chain like that, and I was, he said he could tell. Lol

Will a Hemifever 91 tune be what I want?

The hemifever tune def woke my truck up but I'd make sure with Diablo first cause yours is that odd year and I think I remember other '03's not having the best tuning options.

Diablos website says it's compatible with my year but I couldn't find it anywhere in the vehicle selection on my tuner so I had to select 05 year to get it loaded. I need to call diablo about that but I've heard their costumer service is terrible, haven't got the motivation to attempt dealing with it yet. I do know I have limited tranny tuning, I just have to live with that for now.

I thought one of the Superchips was better for the 03/04 years due to their limited tuning... then again I'm probably wrong lol

Yea I heard they were hard to get a hold of. I'd just rather see ya double check with them quick first before ya spent the money on a custom tune. What other performance mods do ya have done to your truck?

Long tubes, y pipe, cat delete, completely new exhaust system, 3" all the way. Probably adding an s&b intake when I have the extra change

O yea he'd be able to change a few other things for you to get full benefits of having the headers and intake. Just make sure ya give him a list of the stuff you have done to it.

I'll do that. Does he ever run sales on his tune? I see it's sitting at about $160 right now
