Is anybody running these aftermarket air filters for the OEM in air box's like K&N, AEM, AIRAID, etc...? I'm tired of dropping $30 bucks on a WIX every 3K at oil change and I have the filter cleaning kit for my crankcase filter so I just assume get a cleanable air filter and be done. I ran one before, but I wasn't running a tuner or anything so I didn't really pay any attention to performance, the only downfall I can see to this is the wait time to clean, dry and re-oil, what's your opinion?

Each to there own. They all work pretty well. You just got to make sure it seals well every time. I usually get the K&N filter since they are at every parts place. I'm currently using an Aftermarket dry filter on a tube away from the motor. And it seems to be working good.

My personal opinion, is do not use an oiled filter. They can be over or under oiled and not work well or intoduce excess oil into your intake. Plus you have the extra work of actually oiling the filter.

Aem dryflow filters are about the best out there. No oil, but they are still cleanable and reusable.

KandN drop ins are pre oiled, last a life time,(million mile warranty) clean every 50,000 miles, lightly reoil and ready again.

The aem/amsoil filters are the same, but with no oil involved.

Don't get me wrong k&n filters are also good filters, but oiled filters are pretty much old technology at this point. If there are cleanable dryflow filters available for a certain application, it makes more sense to use one of them vs an oiled filter.

To each their own, that is why they make different flavors of ice cream.

So it's recommended to do a dry filter? I always wondered what was considered "to much" or "to little" oil when re-oiling the filter.

Yeah. I've personally used the aem dryflows through a couple of the cleaning cycles. Just spray em with cleaner, spray them off with water, let it dry and reinstall. They pretty much look and work like new after the cleaning.

Since the 500 mile mark I have run the AEM (Dry Flow).
Down Stream tube/Top of Air Box/Throttle Body has been totally spotless of any dust particles or residue.

100% satisfied!

Put the AEM Dry Flow in, she feels a little better, but don't really know without some actual numbers.
