Any truth to this 2004 vs. 2005 5.7 Hemi engine statement?

Uh, what? "...because they used aluminum..." What's that got to do with anything? Aluminum has been used for years to make blocks and heads. My 2004 hemi has almost 192,000 miles on it, runs awesome still and has never had any major work done, just regular maintenance.

Good to know, guys. That statement was made buy a guy with an 04 1500 that had a blown engine at 80K miles.

My old 2004 has over 219k miles and still going strong. Never had any engine related issues.

04 was kind of an odd year I think as far as some parts being only used in that year and part 2003 or something like that. Not the engine as far as I know though. I believe it was kind of a transitional year.

Uuuuummmmmmmm...always been a cast iron block and aluminum heads since 03. The issue early on was overheating them and the heads dropping seats or just plain busting valvesprings (which has nothing to do with the aluminum, plus I have my original valvesprings in my 03 at over 150,000 miles).

Mine too lol, but I've since upgraded to 6.1 springs on my 04.
One thing I'll say about my 04 that I dislike is that the tow haul button on the shifter won't shut off o/d on 04s but it does in other years. That be nice to have that feature

03 has separate ECM and TCM, no support and very little tunability. In 04 they combined them into one PCM which gave better engine tunability but trans not so much. 05 was further refined and is arguably the best year for tuning both engine and trans wise.

Until your diablo loses communication with the tcm and trans tuning is gone forever...
