My truck died in my driveway today. I haven't a clue how old the battery is. they never punched out the card.I got three codes from the sc, all for low battery.I pulled it,and put it on trickle charge, all left handed cuz like froggy I guess i'm starting to get brittle.lol/Well everytime I tried to start, it would click, would't accept a jump either. The tach and speedo went ape **** when trying to start as well. This is totally unnoticed till today btw. Is this a dead battery, out of the blue like this??

sounds like it, and the truck wont run on its own with a week battery. You have to hold the gas down til the battery charges back up, the ECU need 12 volts to operate properly! did you leave something on in the truck? or the alternator could be bad and was not charging the battery last time you drove it. If you get it running un hook the neg post and see if it dies if so your alt is bad! or take it and have it tested!

You have the exact symptoms of a dead battery or a dead cell. When these batteries take a dump it just comes out of nowhere! As much as these trucks depend on a good voltage reading (everything) to run properly I'd replace it and be done with it.

I know just the guy, first charge battery. We had a good hot streak, nothing kills a battery quicker than heat. well maybe cold. But strangely more in the summer.I wish i knew how old it was! friggin dealers. the three month warranty ran out last month. figures, All this and a broken finger. FML!! I broke it chasing my ******* dog off our bay window. You can't make this **** up, I swear.

You get about 5 years, maybe more. If in doubt, switch it out

So does cold...

and i can buy 4 regular batteries for the price of an optima. They're overrated and overpriced. Keep a good charge on a regular battery and it'll do just fine. Mine is 880 CCA too... no problems whatsoever

my battery died around 3 years...and it was like a switch. It started in the morning and at lunch. Then when I went to leave after work it would not start. I jumped it....drove right to autozone. 90 some dollars later I was good to go.
