I just bought a brand new grp9 Interstate for my (new to me) Intrepid, at Costco. 83bucks, cheap enough. When I got home, I put it on my Smart Charger and it was at 75%, so I popped the cap off (not easy), and all the cells were low on water. I topped them up, and put it on charge. It came up to 100%, but if it sits overnight, it'll read 90%. I gotta say, I'm not that impressed with this Interstate.

Optima, the only choice. If it dies on you anytime during the warranty, they give you a brand new battery free of charge, none of this pro-rate horse ****! They never corrode.

Got an interstate for the race car and it stranded me several times in the 2nd year of ownership. So enough of a taste in my mouth to pass on them next time.

My ram has a Napa gold...so far so good. 3 years ish.

I'm running dual Optima Yellow tops and I've killed them dead multiple times and they've come back every time with a proper AGM trickle charger. That said, if I was to get new batteries now I'd go looking for either Odyssey or XS Power batteries.

I've heard some bad things about the newer Optima batteries and their short life, which is a shame, because 20 years ago you couldn't beat them.

I run an XS Power XP1000 16V battery in my Mustang and I've never had to give it a thought. It's not a fair comparison with a street car though, since it sits on the smart trickle charger all the time when it's in the garage and never gets charged by an alternator. But it has been in the car for 6 or 7 years now.

These Yellow Tops are 3 years old so they fall into the 'newer' built category so I really haven't noticed a big change with them over the originals.

Just threw an Optima Red Top in my truck. Best investment, like stated above, if it faults under warranty you get a new one.
