Got a Regular Cab Hemi & a buddy told me not to run a K&N Cold Air Intake, any suggestions on what brand to use?

Might want to check out Volant too. I like their enclosed filter design.

I have an s&b and I'm happy with it. It's built very well and sounds and looks good. As far as performance gains, you're really not going to notice any difference from one intake to another. Just go with whatever you like the best.

Vararam was about the biggest piece of automotive trash I ever purchased.
I know the 4th gen guys love 'em but the 3rd gen design...utter garbage.

see pics here.

What's with the guy in that thread blaming you for the intake being a piece of crap? "Did you lube the intake or take care of it at all"? What is there to lube or take care of on an intake?

My s&b still looks brand new after two years, even though I don't lube it up and whisper sweet nothings in its ear as much as it would like.

I thought it was funny also.lol... "did i take care or it?" Yes...as much as you can take care of a non-oiled filter element, and tubes that catch every spec of road trash on the highway.

Too quiet.

If you want the loudest, non noise canceling monster on the market....you need one of these bad boys.lol

RED Heat Shield Cold Air Intake + Filter For 02-08 Ram 1500/2500 4.7L/5.7L V8 | eBay

I bought it as a temp replacement for my vara-junk because i know i'm going to have to chop it up to mate to my SRT / SSK hood....and because..o yeah...My vararam piece of trash came apart in my hands and i needed something cheap to get back on the road.

beyond loud. But if you're leaning as cheap as a spectre...then i see no reason as to not just go straight to this offshore piece.

FWIW, if this truck was brand new, and i had it to do over, i'd probably go with a S&B. read enough good press to convince me. but it's a 10 year old hauler...and i have that aftermarket hood ...so thats about as ram-air as you can get.

FYI Your pics aren't working.

But yep, I agree. Figured i'll put a better AEM or R2C filter on it eventually.

I'll be sealing the bottom of the box off, and re-routing it to seal to the hood scoop here shortly. Besides it being a chrome tube opposed to a black plastic that i admit wouldn't conduct engine heat...i really see no "fancyness" to a simple tube that routes air into the engine.

I have a 2016 charger also, and it got a drop in green filter since it has a factory CAI more or less.

I assume the "box" used on the 3rd gen rams is more for noise cancelling than airflow. so thats why i tried the vara-junk. And then when it destroyed itself, this ebay cheapy actually seems to run better
