Thanks guys. Ill have to look into the larger cooler and a gauge. I wish dodge had put a temp sensor on these transmissions.

Really? Didnt know that. Why doesn't diablo or superchips read the gauge? My trinity just reads it as -40.

I always wondered the same thing about the tuners. But for whatever reason the ai does read it.

yup my ai reads my trans temps. the trinity should read it too, wonder if the setting isn't setup on it or if it needs an update.

This is the 1 ton cooler I installed a few years back. The truck has never gone over 180 degree's no matter what I'm doing with it.

That looks good. Do those coolers hook straight up to the existing cooler lines?

Yes Sir, and thats the Biggest One right there, as said before mine is the smaller 2500 yet bigger than the 1500 but when I ordered it used at the wreckers it was too late and the price was right.

That ai stuff is Cool. On my Magnum RT, I can now read the Trans Temp thru the Evic as part features of my Tranzformers shift Kit (as well as shifting from the steering wheel, line Lock, Burnout, and Launch Modes, to name a few!) and trans settings imput via a program on my Lap Top.

that one ton cooler is awesome. strait plug and play, no mods required. I had both that and the deep finned PML pan. I wouldn't recommend doing both in a cold climate. tranny barely ever reached 150 down in san diego. but it sure kept temps in check towing the 11k lbs horse trailer over a large mountain range.

The one ton is a great mod. Keeps the trans nice and cool and you can't beat how easy it is to install.

Badblack yes the lines are the same, might need to bend them some to get them to line up like I did but slips right in. You can put some hardware on the top clips to hold them in since the 1500's come with the mount but no hardware.

Nice. My current cooler was patched because a rock punctured one of the cooling fins a few months back. Another good reason to upgrade.

Thank you all for the awesome information.

I just checked my trinity and it has the PID for the trans oil temp but its just showing -40 degrees like i mentioned. I tried setting the minimum value to 50 degrees and max value to 250 but nothing changed it. I have pulled up a lot of post where other ram owners are getting this same -40 reading. So it may be a trinity issue that they haven't figured out yet.

only thing you may notice with the larger trans cooler ids your engine temp might raise about 5-10°. I have a 180° t-stat in mine and after the larger trans cooler it runs about 185-190°. Basically it's due to the larger cooler taking up more surface area on the radiator which restricts the air flow for cooling. not a huge deal but if you monitor engine temps, be aware of the small increase in temps.

I was curious if that was going to be the case. It does make sense.

And yes it does suck.

it's not a huge jump in temperature, just noticeable enough though if you monitor it.
