For a blown head gasket I was wondering what is really needed. The head gasket kits at the parts store comes with a lot of stuff but how much of that stuff is really needed. I only blew one head gasket not both of them.

It's best to replace both anyways. All the head bolts need replaced, they can only be used once. When I did mine, I found some bad valves that needed replaced also. When it comes to replacing gaskets, it's better to pay a little more now then have to pull it all back apart because the old one started leaking. If this is the first time having the exhaust manifolds, you probably need new bolts because those are probably rusted in. A little heat goes along way in getting those out, especially in an aluminum head. There are quite a few performance things you could look into if you are interested, no better time then when the heads are already off

If I had the funds available I would love to add more power. Unfortunately lost my job last Monday. So that currently a no go. On the other hand if anyone knows some good job opportunities in central Arkansas I am open.
