That's what it sounds like, how's the crazy jay compare to the 6.1 cam?

Reason for mentioning pulley was more for helping with the higher than stock reving. After i sold mine to Greg I put a new OEM givin the age of the truck as the rubber around the pulley dries out over time. Was not aware of the characteristics of a UD pulley as you explained, but i beleive you and will think about that the next time i hammer the Magnum as shes got a powerbond 25 UD to spin the Crazy Spartan!

I am almost positive that although it adds hp, it adds it up top because you can reach your peak power band faster. Good for cars and high revving cams.

throttle body will help, make the throttle more responsive. Doesn't add any hp, but makes for a fun ride.

Lots to read about the Crazy Jay which was comparable to the awesome sidewinder by FRI. Google it for a while. I think it would be a good cam to run on the SC and has a good bal of torque especially down low even better than the Crazy Spartan for an 03. I think on a 114 lsa it would be good but Stu at Inertia would be able to confirm whats best. Well worth the Money and will get ya going sideways!

6.1 springs and push rods are needed for a cam swap.

Some cams don't need em but for having an 03 its a nice safety blanket.

03/ early 04 were known for having bad springs.

Mario your 04 is a great year for a 260 install! I like your mods list. Davey you can get 8 exhaust rods that are custom length for the Crazy Jay for 70 bucks then 6.1 on the intake side which are bang on. 6.1 springs are for running up into the 6k range and given the age of the truck like Greg said you do the seals. So the list grows. Some gaskets although reusable may be required (timing cover, water pump if having a look to check corrosion of water pump to cover, valve covers) including crank seal but if its not leakng your good.

To answer the waterpump question, it depends, on Cam #2 swap i replaced mine as i found the gasket channels on the timing cover to pump corroded by the Antifreeze over time, cleaned the aluminum casting and bought a new water pump which I beleive has the new rubber channel gasket included. I replaced it given the age of the truck and it comes with a shiney new pulley already press fit to it. I also replaced the tensioner and small black standalone idler pulley. I also painted the cover Hemi orange which is the same scheme as my valve covers.

I would change the springs on any cam because of the strain that the higher lift puts on the springs. The 6.1 springs are cheap insurance IMHO.

or just pull the heads, that's what we did. didn't take much longer and gives some more elbow room while working.

First cam we did we pulled the heads also and used a reguale c style valve spring tool. The head bolts and gaskets for the heads were fairly cheap.

I certainly wouldn't unless you are doing work on the heads. But you will need the tools to pull the valve springs with the heads on if you don't. I think that made sense....

And consider rhe need to remove the exhaust headers and new gaskets for them when removing heads. Also think about if this is a good time to either replace the heads or simply mill them. It never teally ends....
