I am curious about the ceramic coating process. Does anyone have experience or direct knowledge in doing this?

Thanks,

My understanding is that they dip it so that the header is coated inside and out.

I am a newb to this, but do the headers produce that much more heat than the factory manifolds that this is necessary? Isn't painting them with that stuff silver did enough?

Ceramic is WAY better than any paint. Ceramic is an insulator that keeps the heat inside the tube. Higher exhaust temps create higher exhaust velocities.

Headers do not create more heat than the stock manifold. However, if you're going to the trouble of getting headers to increase exhaust flow, why not increase the benefit even further with a ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is applied the same as other powder coatings (electrostatic then oven baked) Usually the ceramic coating is then polished in a vibrating bed full of beads.

George,
Correct, I believe they are are using a bath. But I'm interested in the actual process. If anyone has a business or knowledge in providing this service I certainly would be interested in talking to you about equipment and material sources needed to set up a shop overseas.
Thanks

Darell,
Intersting, looking at the headers it looked to me more of a solution dip process then a spray process. Actually much like galvanizing. But don't really know.

I believe that ceramic coating is spayed then baked in a kiln. I will try to find where I read this.

Guys,
Appreciate the information, I have experience with flamespray, back in the day we did the prototype header for BlackJack in our shop in San Diego.

Yeah all of the stuff my dads shop does including the pipe on my sled is done very similar to powder coating then is polished using a large tumbling drum full of slightly abrasive materials.
